History and Lore of Westeros - House Greyjoy
Where the North has its honour and South its chivalry, Iron Islands has its strength. We call ourselves the Ironborn, and we are warriors feared throughout the Seven Kingdoms… or so we used to be.

∟ The Grey King
The Grey King is a legendary hero from the Iron Islands. House Greyjoy claims descent from him. The legends say the Drowned God himself helped the Grey King to slay sea dragon Nagga. From her bones he made his hall, the Grey King’s Hall, which he heated with Nagga’s living fire. For a thousand years he reigned. He took as his wife a mermaid and plotted his war against the Storm God. He supposedly wore robes of woven seaweed and a tall pale crown made from Nagga’s teeth. When the Grey King died, the Storm God snuffed out the fire and the sea stole his throne. Only his hall remains.
Apparently now I’m being accused of owning some sort of Greyjoy hate blog? Time to fix this misunderstanding, I think.
Oh, dear. You’ve woken the dragons, released the Others and called all direwolves all at the same moment.
(Attention: I tagged this with “House Greyjoy” sorely for the order and cataloguing purposes on my blog. This meta does contain hate, and that’s why I put it under a cut. If you’re going to be bothered by it, don’t read it.)
I put shitloads of useless tags in this post because I’ve found out that only the first five things you tag show up on the tags-pages. And I’ve had enough of Greyjoy fans’ hatemail for a lifetime. So if it still shows up, let me know.
